JKPSC KAS Exam Pattern
JKPSC KAS exam consists of 3 stages – Prelims, mains & interview. We will discuss the pattern of prelims and then of mains.
Pattern of Prelims
- Mode of exam :- Paper will be Offline, in pen & paper mode.
- Language of exam :- Exam will be conducted in English language only.
- No. of papers :- There will be 2 papers.
- Type of question :- All the questions will be Objective Type.
- Marks per question :- 1 marks per question will be awarded.
- Negative Marking :- Yes, -0.33 per incorrect answer will be deducted.

JKPSC KAS Preparation Tips
- Many questions in all the papers of prelims and mains exams are related to current affairs. So stay abreast with all the current affairs.
- As it is a State Public Service Exam, many questions in prelims as well as mains will be based on the Jammu & Kashmir. Hence, stay informed of all the happenings of the region.
- Dont right very long paragraphs in your answers in the mains exam. Always try to write in crisp and clear format and use maps, diagrams and flow charts in your answer.
- Choose the optional paper very carefully and thoughtfully as the level of question in optional paper will be higher than the rest of the paper.
About JKPSC KAS Exam
Jammu & Kashmir Administrative Service Exam is a state level exam conducted by Jammu & Kashmir Public Service Commission. It is also known as J&K Combined Competitive Exam. Recruitment to J&K Administrative, J&K Police, and J&K Account Service is done through this exam. This year the total number of vacancies to fill is 277.
