Karnataka Police Recruitment 2021: Karnataka State Police (KSP) has invited recruitment for the posts of constable and sub-inspector in various departments. The recruitment is applicable to men as well as women. The posts are offered by the PC-IRB department, IRB department, Civil Department, and armed reserve department. Karnataka State Police Recruitment 2021
The recruitment procedure for all the posts is almost the same. Below is Karnataka State Police Recruitment procedure 2019:
- Written Test: There will be a written exam for all the candidates. The position of the written exam in the selection procedure can vary according to the post. The syllabus and exam pattern for the same will be available on the notification brochure only.
- Endurance Test and Physical Eligibility Test: Following are the criteria for ET & PST:

- Viva test: The viva test is conducted on an optional basis. It may be exempted in the selection process of some posts. The candidates are called in a ration of 1:2 basis for the viva test. The recruitment is done on the basis of candidate’s performance in all the tests.
Medical Test: The shortlisted candidates will be called for medical examination of the candidate. The final list of candidates for recruitment will be prepared on the basis of this examination. Medical examination tests vision, hearing and other physical categories of the candidate.
Note: The applicant must note that the physical test and physical endurance test criteria for posts other than sub-inspector and constable can vary as per the notifications of KSP.
Also, the sequence of written test and eligibility and endurance test can change as per the requirements of the respective department.
About Karnataka Police Department
Karnataka State Police department is the law enforcement agency of the state government of Karnataka. It is headed by the director-general of the Karnataka police department. The department helps in upholding the rights of the general public and the laws stated by the government authorities. Karnataka police held up a harmony between Karnataka government, public groups and citizens of Karnataka.
The vision of Karnataka police is to improve the environment through crime investigation, crime reduction and imposing of law and order through advanced technology and fresh personnel. Karnataka Police department has recently released advertisement notification for recruitment for the post of police constables and sub-inspectors.
History Of KSP
The history of the Karnataka police system goes back to the time when Maharaja of Rajasthan extensively implemented the police system in Old Mysore city-state. Back then, in 1938 the duties of police were performed by scavengers, infantrymen, undergrowth, guards, amulets, patella. In 1853, Sir Mark Cubbon was appointed as Commissioner when the whole country enforced with police legislations.
The state of Karnataka came into existence in the year 1956. But, the first police officers of the state government were appointed on 1st November 1985. Karnataka police department went into various reforms after that. The police department is divided into various parts on the basis of the geographical structure as well as on the basis of functions of the police department.
The use of police dogs started in 1968. This department had 6 dogs in starting and the number has increased to 40 now. Karnataka state had its first IPS officer as Mrs. Jija Harising. The first Training school started in 1956 and was known as Beedara Training school.
Organizational Structure of KSP
Whole Karnataka state is divided into 7 ranges. Each range has 3 to 6 districts allotted in its jurisdiction. Total 6 inspector generals are in charge of all the ranges. A particular district is guided by the superintendent of police. The Direct General and Inspector General of police is the head of state government and under him, there are additional director generals of the state. The addition director generals are divided on the basis of functions performed by the state police.
Karnataka State police have 906 police station. Each police station is headed by a police inspector of the town/city. The village police stations are headed by either one or 2 police sub-inspectors. Following is the organizational structure of Karnataka State Police:
