Maharashtra Police Recruitment 2020: Maharashtra Police Department is responsible for maintenance of law and order in the state. Application for Maharashtra Police Recruitment 2020

The aspiring candidates are required to fill the application form online on the official website given on this page. Firstly, the candidates need to register using their basic information such as mobile number, email id, etc. Make sure to provide a valid and unique mobile number and email id to receive all exam related communication. After successful registration, proceed to fill the application form and upload the photograph and signature as per the format specified. Pay the application fee, as notified in the advertisement released, using any eligible mode to complete the application procedure.

Selection Procedure for Maharashtra Police Recruitment 2020

The candidates have to go through written examination and physical tests to be considered for recruitment in Maharashtra Police Department. The written exam is conducted to test the candidate for mental aptitude while the physical tests are needed to ensure that the physical fitness of the candidate for the post. Fill your application form and carry the admit card generated to the exam center as per the schedule.

Candidates who qualified written as well as physical rounds are invited for document verification. Report at the scheduled time and venue with your original documents and certificates. Maharashtra Police Medals

The various medals awarded by the Police department of Maharashtra are mentioned here. The candidates can check the same from the list below.

  • Police Medal for Meritorious Service: It is awarded on Republic Day and Independence Day every year to the police personnel with an excellent record. However, one must have served for more than 15 years in the police department to be eligible for the medal.
  • President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service: It is also presented on the occasion of Republic Day and Independence Day every year for maintaining a distinguished record. Minimum service period of 21 years is required to be eligible for this.
  • Police Medal for Gallantry: It is awarded for some brave act committed, irrespective of the rank and service period of the police personnel.
  • President’s Police Medal for Gallantry: This medal is awarded for courageous acts such as saving someone’s life, property, preventing a crime, etc.
  • Prime Minister’s Medal for Life Saving: It is given to the police personnel who have contributed greatly in saving lives of citizens. It is presented during the All India Police Duty Meet.

Special Units of Maharashtra Police

The Police Department of Maharashtra has several special units. The objective of these special units is to carry out specialized tasks to ensure national and state security. Each such unit has its domain of specialization and may work independently or in co-operation with other units of the state police department. A list of such units is provided here along with their basic details.

State Intelligence Department (SID): This unit was established in the year 1905 under the name Criminal Investigation Department (Intelligence Wing) and was renamed later. Commissioner of Intelligence is the head of the unit.

Anti–Terrorism Squad (ATS): It was established in the year 2004 for action against any act of terrorism. It works in co-operation with other central agencies such as RAW, IB etc.

Maharashtra State Criminal Investigation Department (CID): It was created in the year 1905 and has its headquarters in Pune. Additional Director General of Police is the head of the the unit.

Quick Response Team (QRT): It is the coastal safety unit of Maharashtra Police Department. Its role is to avert any terrorist act or attack initiating from the coasts of the state.

Anti-Corruption Bureau: As the name states, the function of the unit is to investigate cases of corruption and bribery and catch the individuals involved.

Force-One: This unit is specialized in combat and was formed by the Government of Maharashtra after the terrorist attack of 2008.

Maharashtra Police Department boasts of being one of the largest police force in India, with 36 district police units and 11 commissioners. Its headquarters are located in the capital city of Maharashtra, Mumbai. The department is headed by the Director-General of Police (DGP). Maharashtra Police works with the motto “To protect good and to destroy Evil”.

It has a strength of nearly 2,00,000 employees. Out of these, 250 are Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, 277 are Superintendents of Police (SP), 652 are Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSP). Also, there are 3530 Inspectors, 4530 Assistant Police Inspectors and 7601 Sub Inspectors in the state police force.
