Meghalaya TET 2022: Meghalaya Teachers Eligibility Test or MTET is a statewide eligibility test conducted by the Directorate of Educational Research and Training (DERT). Interested candidates can check out the official website of the state educational department of meghalaya at megeducation.gov.in for more details on MTET. Candidates should have completed their graduation and a two year diploma to apply for MTET. To be eligible for teaching in lower primary and upper primary classes in various private and public schools within Meghalaya, the candidate must qualify in Meghalaya TET Examination. Overview of Meghalaya TET 2022 

The Meghalaya TET exam is a statewide examination conducted by the Directorate of Educational Research and Training (DERT). This exam is conducted every year to recruit teachers for lower and upper primary classes in various schools within the state of Meghalaya. The exam is conducted in two stages namely Paper I and Paper II. Those candidates who qualify Paper I will be eligible to teach lower primary (LP) classes and the candidates who successfully qualify Paper II will be eligible to teach in upper primary classes (UP).

Meghalaya TET 2022 Eligibility criteria 

To apply for MTET candidates should satisfy the following eligibility criterias

  • The candidate must be a citizen of India and a permanent resident of the state of Meghalaya 
  • Minimum age : 21 years and
  • Maximum age limit : 32 years

For Paper I (LP) 

  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known)

OR

  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedures), Regulations, 2002.

OR

  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4- year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).

OR

  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Education (Special Education). 

OR

  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed)/B.Ed(SpecialEducation) who has acquired the qualification or Bachelor of Education from any NCTE recognized institution shall be considered for appointment as a teacher in Primary Stage, provided the person so appointed as a teacher shall mandatorily undergo a six month bridge course in Elementary Education recognized by the NCTE, within two years of such appointment as primary teacher.

For Paper II (UP)

  • Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).

OR

  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in Bachelor in Education(B.Ed).

OR

  • Graduation with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in Bachelor in Education (B.Ed), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations issued from time to time in this regard.

OR

  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4- year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).

OR

  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4- year integrated B.A/B.Sc.B.Ed or B.A.B.Ed/B.Sc.B.Ed.

OR

  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in B.Ed.(Special Education).

OR

  • Any candidate having qualified B.Ed. Programme recognized by the NCTE is eligible to appear in MTET. Moreover, as per the existing TET guidelines circulated vide NCTE letter dated 11-02-2011, a person who is pursuing any of the teacher education courses (recognized by the NCTE or the RCI, as the case may be) specified in the NCTE Notification dated 23rd August 2010 is also qualified to appear in the MTET.

Meghalaya TET 2022 Application form

Candidates can fill and submit the MTET application form online. Candidates will have to submit their recent color photograph, scanned copy of signature and documents proving eligibility in specified size on the official website of DERT at megeducation.gov.in. Paper I and Paper II have the same fee. Interested candidates can apply for both papers as well.

Meghalaya TET 2022 Exam Pattern 

Going through the MTET exam pattern in detail is very important when it comes to qualifying the MTET examination. It helps the candidate in understanding the weightage of each subject and they can decide the amount of time they want to spend on each of the subjects. 

  • Mode of exam: Offline 
  • Duration of exam: 2 hours and 30 minutes for each paper
  • Type of questions: MCQ format. Each question will have four alternatives
  • Total marks: 150 for each paper 
  • Number of questions: 150 for each paper 
  • Marking scheme : one mark for every right answer and no negative marking

Meghalaya TET 2022 Preparation 

Candidates must understand that MTET is an eligibility examination in MCQ format. For any MCQ format exam, speed and accuracy are of the essence. From the exam pattern, the candidate can understand the mark distribution for each subject. But it could at the same time appear quite overwhelming, this section will help understand the candidate on how to prepare for the MTET individual subjects. 

Child development and pedagogy 

Previous year question papers are a good guideline to follow to prepare for child development and pedagogy. This section will include theories on the various stages of child development. Candidates should also take multiple mock tests to master this subject. 

Language-1 & Language-2 

For languages, having a fair understanding of grammar and having a vast vocabulary is very important. For English, candidates should refer to IELTS format questions. 

Mathematics 

For mathematics refer to the NCERT textbooks till class XII. Trigonometry, geometry and basic computations are of importance. 

Environmental Studies 

Just like child development and pedagogy, this section also could be mastered with the help of previous year question papers and mock tests.

Meghalaya TET 2022 Admit card 

Candidates should visit the official website of the department of education of the state of Meghalaya at megeducation.gov.in. The candidates can log in using their username and password and download their admit cards. The Meghalaya TET admit card will have details of the candidates like their name, date, time and venue of the exam and general instructions for the candidate. The admit card along with a valid original photo identity proof is needed to write the examination. It is mandatory to carry the admit card to the exam centre for MTET.

Meghalaya TET 2022 Answer key 

The provisional Meghalaya TET answer key will be made available in the downloads section of the official website at megeducation.gov.in. This answer key should be assessed by the candidates to find their tentative score. If any discrepancy is noticed the candidates can challenge the answer key with proof to back the claim. After the window for raising objection/challenging the answer key is closed. The concerned authority will then publish the official answer key /revised answer key. 

Meghalaya TET 2022 Result

The results will be published after the release of the revised or official answer key. The result and merit rank list will be published on megeducation.gov.in. Candidates can log in to their account using their registration number and password to view their MTET results. Those who qualify for the examination will be handed a certification by the Directorate of Educational Research and Training (DERT) proving eligibility to teach in primary level classes. The certification awarded will have lifetime validity. 

Meghalaya TET 2022 Qualifying marks 

Candidates of general category must have a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate to qualify for MTET 2022 i.e., 90 marks out of a total of 150 marks. Candidates who belong to reserved categories like SC/ST/OBC/MOBC/PH categories must secure a minimum of 55%marks in aggregate for qualifying MTET i.e., 83 marks out of a total of 150 marks. Candidates who successfully qualify the MTET exam will be given a certification with lifetime validity.

In order to provide direction and thrust to School Education & Teacher Education the State Council of Educational Research was set up in Directorate of Public Instruction (DPI). In 1997 the Directorate of Public Instruction was trifurcated and SCERT became a fully fledged Directorate of Educational Research and Training (DERT) with its own Director. The main functions of this Directorate is to help bring about qualitative improvement in the field of School Education through quality Teacher Education Programmes, as the Government firmly believes that quality in school education greatly depends on professional competence of teachers.

Q1. What is the eligibility to apply for Meghalaya TET?

Ans 1. Candidates must have Bachelor’s degree with minimum 50% marks along with B.Ed degree. Also, the detailed eligibility criteria is provided in this article.

Q2. What are the qualifying marks for MTET exam?

Ans 2. DERT has prescribed 60% marks to qualify MTET exam. However, SC/ST candidates have to secure a minimum 55% marks in the exam.
