South Central Railway Recruitment Eligibility Criteria
Candidates applying for the South Central Railway recruitment need to check the eligibility criteria before filling the application form. The candidature of the applicant will get cancelled if he/she is found ineligible for the recruitment as per the norms released by the recruiting body. Age: South Central Railway has set a minimum and maximum age limit for the candidates applying for the recruitment. Candidates can check the upper and lower age limit from below.
- Minimum Age – 15 years
- Maximum Age – 24 years
The minimum should be attained on or before the last date for the application. Also, candidates must have not crossed the maximum age before or on the last date of application form.
Age Relaxation – Some categories are eligible for the age relaxation as per the norms by the SCR. Candidates can check the relaxation of the upper age here.
- SC/ST candidates – 5 years
- OBC candidates – 3 years
- Pwd candidates – 10 years
- Ex-Servicemen – For the candidates who have served the nation and now belongs to ex-servicemen category are entitled to 10 years of upper age relaxation, up to the extent of service rendered in Defence Forces.

Educational Qualification: Candidates who are applying for the South Central Railway recruitment need to be eligible as per the minimum education norms set by the conducting body. Candidates can check the detailed eligibility criteria below.
- Qualifying Exam –
- Class 10th examination (10+2 scheme) or its equivalent
- ITI Certificate in the trade notified from the institutes recognised by NCVT/SCVT
- Score in the qualifying exam – Candidates must have a minimum of 50% aggregate in class 10th examination.
The educational qualification mentioned above must be attained before the opening of the application form.
Who cannot apply?
Engineering Graduates and Diploma holders are not eligible to apply for this apprenticeship notification. These candidates are eligible for a separate scheme of apprenticeship.
South Central Railway Recruitment Application Form
SCR has released an application form for the candidates to get the recruitment in the South Central Railways. Candidates need to visit the official website in order to apply online. The application form submission is entitled to a requisite fee payment by the candidates. All the candidates who fills the application form will be eligible to considered for the merit list creation subject to attaining the minimum eligibility norms. - For Unreserved category – Rs. 100
- For reserved categories – No amount of application fee is applicable for the reserved category candidates.

Mode of Application Fee Payment – Candidates need to pay the application fee against the SCR recruitment application form in an online mode only. Candidates can use any of the following means to pay the online application fee.

Medical Fitness and Physical Standards
After the dilling of the application form, candidates selected need to pass the medical examination as per the ruled in force. Candidates must be fit for the relevant trade, hence, the SCR has provided maximum disability that will be accepted for the said trade of the training course. Check the image below in this regard.

Selection Procedure for South Central Railway Recruitment
The candidates have to fill the application form as the first step towards the consideration of SCR Recruitment. The candidates filling the application form are considered to be added in the selection list. The selection list or the merit list is prepared taking an equal weightage of class 10 marks and the ITI examination. Candidates are placed in the merit list according to their marks in class 10 and the ITI examination.
Tie-breaking criteria
There can be cases when two candidates arrive at the same position in the merit list. In order to resolve such situations, SCR has laid down some rules. Candidates can check the same below.
- Candidate who is older is preferred.
- If the candidates have the same date of birth, the candidate who passed the 10th class examination earlier shall be given the consideration.
Training & Stipend
Candidates who marks their place in the merit list are eligible for the training under the South Central Railway. Candidates will be given the training as per the standards and syllabus prescribed by the Central Apprenticeship Council. The stipend to be paid to the selected candidate will be as per the prescribed rates as per extant instructions.
According to the obligation under the Apprentices Act of 1961, the railways will provide the training only, and not recruit the trained apprentices. Hence the candidates will have no perspective right for regular employment in railway services on the completion of the training period.
