The SSC Stenographer 2026 admit card for the Computer Based Examination (CBE) has already been issued and used: the CBE was held from 9 to 12 September and on 15 September 2026. City details went live on 31 August 2026, and the Admission Certificate followed 2-3 days before each candidate's date. The next call letter is for the Skill Test in Stenography, and only candidates shortlisted in the CBE result get it. That result had not been posted on ssc.gov.in as of 27 October 2026.
How did the Stenographer 2026 admit card work?
SSC first announced the CBE for 9 to 12 September 2026. A corrigendum of 31 August 2026 stretched it to 15 September 2026. The city-intimation notice of 31 August 2026 was shared with the Combined Hindi Translators Examination. It let candidates view their exam city through the designated login module on ssc.gov.in. The Admission Certificate was to be available 2-3 days before each exam date through the same login.
Candidates using their own scribe had to register the scribe afresh, because SSC had disposed of all scribe registrations made before 5 November 2025. Scribe registration is now linked to Aadhaar authentication. For Stenographer 2026, a corrigendum of 3 September 2026 brought the scribe OTR mapping deadline forward to 5 September 2026 (11:00 PM); no Scribe Entry Pass was generated without it.
Under the Stenographer 2026 Notice, the time-table and exam city are uploaded about 10 days before the exam. If your details do not appear one week before the exam, you must contact the SSC Regional Office at once with proof of having applied. Any letter to SSC must carry your Registration-ID, registered email ID, mobile number, name, date of birth and exam name.
What do you need at the exam centre?
Bring a printout of the Admission Certificate. In the 2025 cycle, SSC said it would retain the Admission Certificate during the exam and advised candidates to keep a copy. Candidates who could not complete Aadhaar authentication must report two hours before the exam starts. They must also carry at least two passport-size colour photographs and an original photo ID showing the date of birth printed on the admit card, such as:
- Aadhaar card or e-Aadhaar printout, Voter ID, Driving Licence, PAN card or Passport
- School or college ID card, or an employer ID card (Government, PSU or private)
- Ex-Serviceman Discharge Book, or any other photo ID issued by the Central or State Government
If the ID shows no date of birth, carry an original document that does, such as a Matriculation certificate or a CBSE/ICSE/State Board mark sheet. If the date of birth does not match the admit card, you will not be allowed to sit the exam. Scribe users must also bring the medical certificate, undertaking and a photocopy of the scribe's photo ID. The Notice lists debarment periods for misconduct:
- 03-05 years for carrying a mobile phone, Bluetooth device, spy camera or other electronic gadget
- 07 years for photographing or filming question papers
- 03-05 years for appearing with a forged admit card or identity proof
Skill Test admit card
Candidates who qualify in the CBE receive a separate Admission Certificate for the Skill Test in Stenography. The test is held at SSC Regional Offices or other centres the Commission decides, and the Regional Office sends any detailed instructions. You take one 10-minute dictation in English or Hindi, as opted in the application. The speed is 100 words per minute for Grade C and 80 for Grade D, and you transcribe it on a computer:
- Grade D: 50 minutes (English) or 65 minutes (Hindi)
- Grade C: 40 minutes (English) or 55 minutes (Hindi)
Scribe-eligible candidates get 70, 90, 55 and 75 minutes respectively. For Stenographer 2025, the Skill Test city-intimation notice came on 20 January 2026, with the admit card due 2-3 days before the test. For Stenographer 2024, city details went live on 7 April 2025, and own-scribe candidates had to register their scribe by 11 April 2025.
