The SSC Stenographer 2026 CBE result has not been declared yet; it will shortlist candidates, category-wise, for the Skill Test in Stenography. The latest result is the Stenographer 2025 final result of 25 August 2026, which shortlisted 1,715 candidates. Final marks for that cycle can be viewed in the candidate login until 6 November 2026 (6 PM).
What does each Stenographer result decide?
CBE result: call for the Skill Test
SSC publishes a write-up PDF with category-wise cut-offs and separate roll-number lists for Grade C and Grade D, because you apply for Grade C, Grade D or both. Scores are normalised, and you must clear the minimum qualifying marks: 30% for UR, 25% for OBC/EWS and 20% for other categories. The Stenographer 2025 CBE result of 28 November 2025 called 8,624 candidates for the Grade C Skill Test and 22,456 for Grade D.
Skill Test: qualifying only
The Skill Test is mandatory but only qualifying; final merit comes from CBE marks. SSC fixes the allowed error rate category-wise. For Stenographer 2025, Grade C allowed up to 5% mistakes for UR and 7% for reserved categories, while Grade D allowed 7% for UR and 10% for reserved categories. In 2025, 4,907 candidates took the Grade C test and 12,564 the Grade D test. Candidates who take the test in Hindi must learn English stenography after appointment, or vice versa, or their probation may not be cleared.
FRTA, identity verification and final result
Before allocation, SSC collects post preferences online; a candidate who submits none is not considered. For 2025, 10,132 candidates who gave preferences were considered. SSC uses a sliding mechanism instead of a waiting list:
- The First Round of Tentative Allocation (FRTA) was declared on 18 June 2026 and revised on 31 July 2026.
- FRTA candidates then had to attend Sliding/Identity Verification in person at their Regional Office on 11 and 12 August 2026. Absentees were left out of the final result.
- The final result on 25 August 2026 recorded 1,055 FIX, 549 FLOAT and 111 new allocations against absentees, a total of 1,715.
All 232 Grade C vacancies were filled, and the Grade D list matched its 1,483 vacancies.
How are ties broken?
Equal aggregate CBE marks are resolved in this order:
- Marks in Part III (English Language and Comprehension)
- Marks in Part II (General Awareness)
- Date of birth, with the older candidate placed higher
- Alphabetical order of names
When can you see your marks?
Marks open in the candidate login (Registered ID and Password) only for a fixed window, and SSC asks you to print the scorecard. For Stenographer 2025, CBE marks were shown with the final key from 2 January 2026 to 17 January 2026. The final marks went live on 7 October 2026 and stay open until 6 November 2026. For Stenographer 2024, final marks were available from 14 August 2025 to 13 September 2025.
What happens after the final result?
Document Verification is done by the allocated User Department after the final result, not by SSC. Bring two passport-size colour photographs and an original photo ID, with your certificates. If a post is allocated and you fail its physical, medical or educational standards, you are not moved to another preference. If you scored above the cut-off but were left out for a reason other than your own option, write to the Regional Office. Do this within two months of the result, or two weeks before the next stage, whichever is earlier. If you hear nothing within one year of the final result, contact the User Department. Appointees serve two years on probation.
