HTET — the Haryana Teacher Eligibility Test — is conducted by the Board of School Education Haryana (BSEH), Bhiwani, under the Right to Education Act, 2009. It is a qualifying test for teaching posts in the state's schools, held at three levels:

  • Level 1 (PRT) — Primary Teacher, for classes I to V.
  • Level 2 (TGT) — Trained Graduate Teacher, for classes VI to VIII.
  • Level 3 (PGT) — Post Graduate Teacher / Lecturer, for classes IX to XII.

A single registration lets a candidate apply for one level or multiple levels. The latest cycle is HTET 2025: the examination was held on 4 and 5 July 2026 and the result was declared on 22 August 2026, with a revised result to follow after biometric verification. BSEH has announced that HTET 2026 will be held within 2026; its dates are awaited.

Exam pattern and qualifying marks

Each level is a single paper of 150 multiple-choice questions for 150 marks, over 2 hours 30 minutes, with no negative marking. A candidate qualifies on scoring 60% (General); reserved categories of Haryana qualify at a relaxed percentage as fixed by the Board (SC / PwD of Haryana at 55%). The HTET qualifying certificate is valid for life.

HTET qualifies you to apply — it does not appoint you

Qualifying HTET does not confer any right to recruitment. It is one of the eligibility conditions for appointment as a teacher in Haryana; the vacancy itself is filled through a separate recruitment process.

HTET Eligibility

HTET eligibility follows the NCTE framework and depends on the level you apply for. Only teacher-training courses recognised by the NCTE — or, for special education, by the Rehabilitation Council of India — are accepted.

Level 1 (PRT) — to teach classes I to V

  • Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.Ed. / D.El.Ed.); or
  • Senior Secondary with at least 50% marks and a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.); or
  • Senior Secondary with at least 50% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education); or
  • Graduation with a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.

Level 2 (TGT) — to teach classes VI to VIII

  • Graduation and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education; or
  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and a B.Ed.; or
  • Senior Secondary with at least 50% marks and a 4-year B.El.Ed. or B.A./B.Sc.Ed.; or
  • Graduation with at least 45% marks and a B.Ed., as per the applicable NCTE regulations.

Level 3 (PGT) — to teach classes IX to XII

  • A Master's degree in the relevant subject with at least 50% marks and a B.Ed.

Notes

Reserved-category candidates get the marks relaxation notified by the Board. A candidate qualified only as B.Ed. and appointed at the primary level must complete an NCTE-recognised 6-month bridge course in elementary education. Confirm your own qualification against the HTET information bulletin and scheme of examination before applying — being allowed to sit the test does not by itself prove eligibility, which is verified by the recruiting authority.

HTET Application Form

The HTET 2025 application was submitted online through the BSEH portal — bseh.org.in / htet.eapplynow.com — from 24 December 2025, with the last date extended to 5 January 2026 (midnight) and the fee deposit closing 5 January 2026. A single registration lets you apply for one level or several.

All others of Haryana domicile₹1,000₹1,800₹2,400

HTET FAQs

Does clearing HTET give me a teaching job?
No. A teaching eligibility test qualifies you to apply for teaching posts — it establishes that you meet the required standard. Actual vacancies are filled through a separate recruitment process run by the relevant authority.
