Karnataka TET 2025 (KARTET) - Result, Eligibility, Syllabus

Karnataka TET — the Karnataka Teacher Eligibility Test, also written KARTET — is conducted by the Centralized Admission Cell (CAC), Office of the Commissioner, Department of School Education, Bengaluru. Held under the RTE Act, 2009 and the Karnataka Teacher Eligibility Test Rules, 2011, it is a qualifying test for appointment as a teacher for classes I to VIII in the state's schools. It has two papers:

• Paper 1 — for those who intend to teach classes I to V.
• Paper 2 — for those who intend to teach classes VI to VIII.

A candidate who intends to teach at both levels sits both papers.

KARTET 2025 schedule

Paper 1 is held from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon and Paper 2 from 2:00 to 4:30 p.m. (2 hours 30 minutes each). Visually impaired and disabled candidates get 50 minutes of extra time.

Qualifying KARTET establishes the minimum eligibility for teacher recruitment in Karnataka; it is not a recruitment test, and the vacancy itself is filled through a separate process.

Karnataka TET Eligibility

Karnataka TET eligibility follows the NCTE framework. The qualification you need depends on the paper you sit. Only teacher-training courses recognised by the NCTE — or, for special education, by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) — are accepted; a candidate pursuing the final year of a recognised training course may also apply.

Paper 1 — to teach classes I to V

Any one of the following:

• PUC / Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and a 2-year D.El.Ed.; or
• PUC / Senior Secondary with at least 50% marks and a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.); or
• Senior Secondary with at least 50% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education); or
• Graduation with a 2-year D.El.Ed.; or Graduation with at least 50% marks and a B.Ed.

Paper 2 — to teach classes VI to VIII

Any one of the following:

• Graduation with a 2-year D.El.Ed.; or Graduation with at least 50% marks and a B.Ed. (or pursuing B.Ed.); or
• PUC / Senior Secondary with at least 50% marks and a 4-year B.El.Ed.; or
• Graduation with at least 50% marks and a 2-year B.Ed. (Special Education).

Relaxation and notes

A relaxation of 5% marks in the required academic qualification is allowed to SC, ST, Category-1, and special/differently-abled candidates. Only NCTE-recognised diploma/degree courses (RCI for special education) are accepted. Confirm your own combination of degree and training qualification against the KARTET 2025 brochure before applying.

Karnataka TET Application Form

The Karnataka TET 2025 application was submitted online at schooleducation.karnataka.gov.in, from 23 October to 9 November 2025. There is no offline form.

Fee

The fee is paid online by net banking, debit card, credit card or SBI challan, and is not refunded. A candidate submitting more than one application pays the fee for each separately.

How to apply

1. Register on the department website, then log in and fill the application in full.
2. Choose the paper(s) — Paper 1, Paper 2 or both — and the medium of the question paper.
3. Upload a passport photograph (≤50 KB) and signature (≤40 KB) in the prescribed format.
4. Pay the fee and take a printout of the computer-generated application.

Details cannot be edited once the application is submitted, so check everything before submitting.
