Karnataka TET — the Karnataka Teacher Eligibility Test, also written KARTET — is conducted by the Centralized Admission Cell (CAC), Office of the Commissioner for Public Instruction, Department of School Education, Bengaluru. Held under the RTE Act, 2009 and the Karnataka Teacher Eligibility Test Rules, 2011, it is a qualifying test for appointment as a teacher for classes I to VIII in the state's schools. It has two papers:
- Paper 1 — for those who intend to teach classes I to V.
- Paper 2 — for those who intend to teach classes VI to VIII.
A candidate who intends to teach at both levels sits both papers.

Paper 1 is held from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon and Paper 2 from 2:00 to 4:30 p.m. (2 hours 30 minutes each). Visually impaired and disabled candidates get 50 minutes of extra time.
