MAHA TET

MAHA TET 2026 has been postponed. The Maharashtra State Examination Council had scheduled the Teacher Eligibility Test for 28 June 2026 at 1,028 centres across the state, but on 27 June 2026 the Council postponed it: acting on confidential information, Bhiwandi police found that some questions of the June 2026 TET paper had leaked and registered a case, and the Council held the exam back to protect its integrity. A revised examination date will be announced on the Council's website.

MAHA TET — the Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test — is conducted by the Maharashtra State Examination Council (MSCE), Pune under the Right to Education Act, 2009. It is a qualifying test for teaching posts in the state's schools, held in two papers:

• Paper I — for those who intend to teach classes I to V.
• Paper II — for those who intend to teach classes VI to VIII.

A candidate who intends to teach at both levels sits both papers.

Exam pattern and qualifying marks

Each paper has 150 multiple-choice questions for 150 marks, over 2 hours 30 minutes, with no negative marking. A candidate qualifies on scoring 60% (General — 90 of 150), or 55% (82 of 150) for reserved and backward categories and persons with disability. The MAHA TET certificate is valid for life.

MAHA TET qualifies you to apply — it does not appoint you

Qualifying MAHA TET does not confer any right to appointment. It is one of the eligibility conditions for teacher recruitment in Maharashtra; the vacancy is filled through a separate process.
