The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) has released a notification in regard of the TNPSC Junior Scientific Officer Recruitment 2016-17. The recruitment is for post of Junior Scientific Officer. The written examination held on October 16, 2016 and followed by the Oral Test held on October 25, 2017 (after a whole year). Vacancy Details

  • Junior Scientific Officer (Post Code – 1767) – 29+1* (*carried forward vacancy)
  • Scale of Pay – Rs.9,300 – 34800/- (PB1) + Grade Pay 4,800/-

Age Limit (As on 01.07.2016) – Min. Age for all candidates is 18 years and Max age for candidates belonging to General category is 30 years (should not have completed).

Educational Qualification – M.Sc Degree in Forensic Science and M.Sc., Degree in the subject for the group as mention below.

Selection Process – Selection will be made in two successive stages i.e., (i) Written Examination and (ii) Oral Test in the form of an interview.

Application Fee – One Time Registration fee is Rs. 50/- and Examination fee is Rs. 100/-.

How to Apply – Candidates have to apply online from the commission website and pay the application fee to appear in the written examination.

TNPSC Junior Scientific Officer Application Form 2016

Candidates should apply only through online in the Commission’s website http://www.tnpsc.gov.in. One Time Registration (OTR) and candidates Dashboard are mandatory before applying for the post. Candidates are requested to check their eligibility and read the instruction carefully before filling the Application form.

Application Fee

  • One Time Registration Fee – Rs. 50/-
  • Examination Fee – Rs. 100/-

A valid e-mail ID or Mobile Number is mandatory for registration. Email ID and Mobile Number, should always be kept in active. TNPSC will send all communications and messages through the registered email ID and Mobile Numbers.

After submitting details in the application, they can choose any one of the following mode of payment. (Net Banking, Debit Card / Credit Card, Bank Challan, Post Office Challan)

Candidates need not send the printout of the online application or any other supporting documents to the Commission. The certificates will be verified only when the candidates come up for next stage of selection.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates should possess the following or an equivalent qualification granted by any of the Universities or Institutions recognized by the University Grants Commission for the purpose of its grant.

  • M.Sc., (Forensic Science) Degree and a degree in the subject, for the group as shown in the explanation below to which he is appointed. Or
  • M.Sc., Degree in the subject for the group as shown in the explanation below to which he is appointed.
  • Other things being equal, preference shall be given to person who holds a degree in M.Sc., (Forensic Science)

Note : Candidates claiming equivalent qualification to the prescribed qualification should furnish the particulars regarding equivalence of qualification at the time of submission of application itself failing which their application will be summarily rejected.

Explanation: The group, division and subjects are specified below-

Knowledge of Tamil – Candidates should possess adequate knowledge of Tamil on the date of this Notification viz 29.07.2016.

Note:- “Others” [i.e. Candidates not belonging to SCs, SC(A)s, STs, MBCs/DCs, BCs and BCMs] who have put in 5 years and more of service in the State / Central Government are not eligible even if they are within the age limit.

TNPSC Junior Scientific Officer Admit Card 2016

The TNPSC Hall Tickets for eligible candidates will be made available in the Commission’s website for downloading by candidates. No Admti Card will be sent by post. So the candidates / applicants should watch Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission website since ahead/ before the scheduled date of examinations.

Selection Procedure

Selection will be made in two successive stages i.e., (i) Written Examination and (ii) Oral Test in the form of an interview. Final selection will be made on the basis of total marks obtained by the candidates at the Written Examination and Oral Test taken together and subject to the rule of reservation of appointments and Group wise vacancies by way of counselling. Appearance in both the papers of the Written Examination and Oral Test is compulsory. A candidate who has not appeared in any one of the papers in Written Examination or Oral Test will not be considered for selection, even if he/she secures qualifying marks in the Written Examination or Oral Test.
