Age Limit – The upper Age Limit is 26 years as on March 16, 2021 for the posts of Executive Trainee in all disciplines.
Educational Qualification – Bachelor Degree in Engineering in specific discipline as per posts requirement. Detail eligibility criteria is mention below.
Selection Process – GAIL will be utilizing Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering – 2021 score (GATE-2021– Score) for recruitment of Executive Trainee.
Application Fee – There is no separate fee for applying for the above posts of Executive Trainees in GAIL.
How to Apply – On receipt/ downloading of GATE-2021 Admit card with registration number, candidates will have to separately apply online for GAIL Executive Trainee Posts.
GAIL ET Eligibility Criteria
- Executive Trainee (Chemical) – Bachelor Degree in Engineering in Chemical/ Petrochemical/ Chemical Technology/ Petrochemical Technology with minimum 65 % Marks.
- Executive Trainee (Instrumentation) – Bachelor Degree in Engineering in Instrumentation/ Instrumentation & Control/ Electronics & Instrumentation/ Electrical & Instrumentation/ Electronics/ Electrical & Electronics with minimum 65 % Marks.

Eligible candidates who wish to apply for the position of Executive Trainee in GAIL will be required to first apply for GATE-2021.
On receipt/ downloading of GATE-2021 Admit card with registration number, candidates will have to separately apply online in GAIL indicating their GATE-2021 Registration Number.

A Candidate can apply for one post/ discipline only. Candidates applying for more than one post/ discipline will not be considered.

GAIL ET Selection Process
GAIL will be utilizing Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering – 2021 score (GATE-2021 – Score) for recruitment of Executive Trainee in the disciplines of Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Civil and Business Information System (BIS) during the year 2021.
Based on the GATE-2021 score and requirement, candidates will be shortlisted for Group Discussion and/ or Personal Interview for the position of Executive Trainee in the above disciplines. Please note that only GATE-2021 score is valid for this recruitment exercise. GATE score of 2016 or prior to that is not valid.

Question. I am currently in the final year of B.E (Mechanical) course. Am I eligible to apply for the GAIL ET Recruitment (Mechanical)?
Answer. Candidates currently in final year (2016-17) of their Engineering Degree Course may also apply provided candidates belonging to General and OBC (NCL) category have secured minimum 65 % marks in aggregate and candidates belonging to SC/ ST/ PWD category have secured minimum 60 % marks in aggregate up to the last semester examination at the time of applying. Question. I am having B.E/ B. Tech. degree in Metallurgy and have also applied for GATE – 2021. But this discipline /branch has not been advertised. Can I apply for GAIL ET Recruitment (Mechanical)?
Answer. We regret that for the post of Executive Trainee (Mechanical), candidates with Graduate Engineering degree in Metallurgy are not eligible.
Question. I am having B.E/ B. Tech. degree in Production & Industrial Engineering and I have also applied for GATE – 2021 in Production & Industrial Engineering paper. Am I eligible to apply against the post of Executive Trainee (Mechanical)?
Answer. Engineering Graduates in Production & Industrial Engineering are eligible to apply against Mechanical discipline in GAIL, provided such candidates take GATE – 2021 examination in Mechanical Engineering Paper only.
Question. I am having B.E./ B. Tech. degree in Automobile. But this branch has not been specified in the detailed advertisement. Can I apply against the Post of Executive Trainee (Mechanical)?
Answer. We regret that for the post of Executive Trainee (Mechanical), Engineering Graduates in Automobile branch are not eligible.
Question. Can a candidate having done AMIE apply for the post of Executive Trainee in engineering discipline?
Answer. For the post of Executive Trainee in engineering discipline, qualifications prescribed stipulate full-time regular Engineering Degree i.e. B.E./ B. Tech./ B.Sc. Engineering from a recognized University/Institute. In view of this, AMIE qualification does not fulfill our requirement and as such, candidates having AMIE qualifications are not eligible to apply.
Question. Are there any physical fitness criteria for appearing in GATE-2021?
Answer. As per information provided in the GATE-2021 official websites, there is no physical fitness criteria for applying in GATE-2021 (please visit GATE-2021 official websites for confirming the same). However, appointment to the advertised posts of Executive Trainee in GAIL will be subject to the candidate being medically fit as per the standards prescribed for the post by GAIL. Please refer to clause number 7 of the detailed advertisement in GAIL Website http://www.gailonline.com.
Question. Can I apply to GAIL before I download GATE-2021 admit card?
Answer. NO, GATE – 2021 admit card will have your GATE – 2021 Registration Number. You have to enter your GATE – 2021 Registration Number while applying in GAIL. Otherwise, we will not be able to retrieve your GATE – 2021 score.
