  • For Stenographer Grade II – Rs. 8000 – 35000/- with grade pay of Rs. 4500 (PB-3)

Educational Qualification:  Candidate must be a Graduate from a recognized University in any discipline.

Age Limit:

  • For Judicial Assistant – Candidate must not be less than 18 years and more than 38 years of age as on 01 Oct 2016.
  • For LDA/COPYIST /TYPIST & Stenographer Grade II & III – Candidate must not be less than 18 years and more than 43 years of age

Selection Process:

  • For Judicial Assistant – Written Examination (100 marks) + Viva-voce/Computer Skill Test (20 Marks).
  • For LDA/COPYIST /TYPIST & Stenographer Grade II & III – Selection process will be notified in due course.

Gauhati High Court Eligibility Criteria

For Judicial Assistant

  • Candidate must be a Graduate from a recognized University in any discipline and must have secured minimum 45% marks in the Degree examination and candidates belonging to SC/ST categories must have secured minimum 40% marks in the Degree examination.
  • Candidate must possess Computer Skills for handling data and text on the computer.
  • Candidate must be a permanent resident of the State of Assam. In the event of selection, the candidate has to submit the document of proof.
  • Candidate must not be less than 18 years and more than 38 years of age as on 01 Oct 2016. The upper age limit will be relaxable by 5 years for Persons with Disabilities and candidates belonging to SC and ST category.

For LDA/COPYIST /TYPIST

  • A candidate must be a graduate in any stream from a UGC recognized University on the last date of submission of application form. Candidates awaiting result need not apply.
  • He/she must have working knowledge of computer on the last date of submission of application form and
  • Apart from English, the candidate should have adequate knowledge of the official language of the State of Assam and the candidate shall have to appear in a qualifying examination designed to test the proficiency in official language of the State of Assam. A candidate failing to obtain minimum qualifying marks in the official language of the State of Assam shall not be considered for appointment.

For Stenographer Grade II

  • The candidate must be a graduate from a UGC recognized University.
  • Should possess a Diploma/Certificate in Stenography/Shorthand from ITI/Polytechnic/any other institute. Candidates who are pursuing Stenography/Shorthand may also apply. However, they must submit pass/completion certificate/diploma to the High Court at the time of document verification, unless otherwise decided by the High Court.
  • Must have adequate knowledge of the official language (Assamese) of Assam.

For Stenographer Grade III

  • A candidate who has passed H.S. examination from any recognized Board/Council/University.
  • Should possess a Diploma/Certificate in Stenography/Shorthand from m/Polytechnic/any other institute. Candidates who are pursuing Stenography/Shorthand may also apply. However, they must submit pass/completion certificate/diploma to the High Court at the time of document verification, unless otherwise decided by the High Court.
  • Must have adequate knowledge of the official language (Assamese) of Assam.

Gauhati High Court Recruitment Selection Process for Judicial Assistant

The selection process of the Gauhati High Court Recruitment of Judicial Assistant 2016-17 will be as follows:

  1. Written Examination
  2. Viva-voce / Skill Test

Written Examination (MCQ)

  • Written examination will be of 100 marks
  • Duration of the exam will be 2 hours.
  • Questions will be from General English, General Awareness, and General Aptitude.
  • There will be no negative marking.

Viva-Voce / Skill Test 

  • Viva-Voce / Skill Test will be of 20 marks.

Terms & Conditions

  • The admission of candidates at all stages of the selection process will be purely provisional and subject to satisfying the prescribed eligibility conditions. The application will be subject to scrutiny at every stage and shall be rejected if any defect is detected.
  • No TA/DA shall be paid to the candidates for appearing in the written test/interview etc.
  • Information submitted by an applicant in his/her application will bind the candidate and if found to be false, his/her candidature will be canceled forthwith and he/she shall be liable for criminal prosecution.
  • The certificate for the claim of reservation must be issued by Competent Authority.
  • All other matters which are not specifically provided in the given advertisement shall be as decided by the High Court.
  • The High Court reserves the right to cancel or modifies the advertisement without any notice.
  • Candidates who are already in the Government Service may apply through proper channel and they shall have to submit release order at the time of joining.
