Viva-voce (Oral Interview) Test: The object of the Viva-voce Test is to assess the suitability of the Candidate for the cadre by judging the mental alertness, knowledge of law, clear and logical exposition, balance of judgment, skills, attitude, ethics, power of assimilation, power of communication, character and intellectual depth and the like, of the Candidate.

Once the exam is over, result of the candidates will be based upon the aggregate marks they have scored in Main Written Examination as well as in Viva-voce Test. Marks of Preliminary Test are not included in the final result. Preliminary test is considered to be the elimination test, where candidates are judged and those who qualify the test are sent forward for the next stage of examination.

Marking scheme for The Preliminary Examination (Elimination Test): Preliminary examination have 75 questions in English and 25 questions in Gujarati.

Viva-voce (Oral Interview) Test: It is mandatory for the candidate to score atleast 40% marks in the oral interview round, to be selected for the post of civil judge in Gujarat High Court.
Cancelling the Appointments
Candidates who doesn’t fulfill the criteria given below, will be disqualified and would not be given their Admit Card for examination of Gujarat High Court Civil Judge 2019 recruitment.
- If she/he is not the citizen of India
- If she/he is dismissed from any of the service of State Government, Central Government, High Court, U.Ts. Local or Statutory authorities.
- If a candidate is convicted for any offence related to the moral turpitude or someone who is disqualified or debarred permanently by the Union/State Public Service Commission or High Court, or even by any of the Examination or Recruitment Conducting Authority from sitting in selections or exams.
- If a candidate try to influence the Recruiting Authority either directly or indirectly, will be disqualified from the exam.
- If a man is having more than one wife, he will not be allowed to appear in the exam or if a woman stays with a married man, who already have a wife is also not allowed to sit in the exam.

Gujarat High Court was established after splitting from Bombay State in the year 1960 on 1st May. Current employee strength of Gujarat is 30, whereas the sanctioned strength is of 52. Chief Justice presided the bench of high court. Appointment of chief justice is done by President of India, in consultation with the Chief Justice of India and Governor of Gujarat. Current chief justice of the court is Justice Vikram Nath.
