The interested candidates applied from the 1st week of August 2017 through the online procedure followed on the official website of the Gujarat High Court at gujarathighcourt.nic.in Only the eligible candidates were able to apply for the posts. The posts are also reserved for the reserved category candidates. There is no vacancy in the Gujarati Stenographer Grade–II for the SC category candidates, however, the candidates belonging to such category applied against the General Category (UR), the criteria meant for UR category was applicable to them. The examination is being conducted for the Centralized Recruitment of the Posts of English and Gujarati Stenographers Grade-II in the subordinate courts of the State of Gujarat. The examination for the posts will be conducted by the Gujarat High Court. Only the Graduates will be able to apply for the post. Further eligibility norms are discussed below.
What is the Eligibility Criteria for the recruitment of Stenographer, Gujarat High Court 2017?
The Gujarat HC has set some eligibility norms for the candidates who will apply for the recruitment of stenographer, Gujarat High Court 2017. For the selection candidates must fulfil the following eligibility criteria.
For English Stenographer Grade – II (Class-II)
Candidates applying for this post must have graduated in any discipline from a recognised University. They should possess 120 w.p.m. speed in English Shorthand. Candidates should have basic knowledge of Computer as per the Government Resolution dated on August 13, 2008. Along with the above criteria applicant must have sufficient knowledge of English, Gujarati and Hindi Language.
For Gujarati Stenographer Grade – II (Class-II)
To be eligible for this post, candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a recognised University. Candidates should have Speed in Gujarati Short Hand as 90 w.p.m. Along with that they should have basic knowledge of Computer as per the Government Resolution dated on August 13, 2008 and sufficient knowledge of English, Gujarati and Hindi Language.
Age Limits
Candidate must have attain the age of 21 years as on August 15, 2017. The upper age limit is 40 years for the candidates applying for the posts of English/ Gujarati Stenographer, HC Gujarat 2017.
Age Relaxation
Upper Age relaxation has been granted to the reserved category candidates and Women by the High Court of Gujarat. The upper age limit can be relaxed as given in the following table:

Note- In any case candidate’s ange must not exceed the age of 45 years. However the above age relaxation to all the categories as on August 15, 2017.

Scheme of Examination for the Gujarat HC Stenographer Recruitment 2017
The selection for the post of Stenographer, Gujarat High Court 2017 will be based on the performance of the Stenography Test which is scheduled to be held on October 8, 2017. The Test will be followed by the Viva-Voce that is expected to be held in the month of November or December 2017. The scheme of the English/ Gujarati Stenographer is given below. Candidates must have a look on the examination pattern, through this you will get an idea of the examination.
- Stenography Test will be done of 60 marks for both the post of Gujarati as well as English Stenographer. 4 minutes will be given to the candidate to complete the Test of total 2 passages each. Other particulars of the test is given in the table.

- For the Gujarati Stenographer Grade-II, candidate will be facilitated with ‘Gujarati Indic Input Tools (MS Office Indic Version) Fonts and they can use any of the Gujarati Typewriter, Gujarati Typewriter (G), Godrej Indica, Remington Indica, Special Characters, Gujarati Tera font Keyboard/Layout at the time of transcription.
Note- Candidates shall not be allowed to use the Gujarati Transliteration (Phonetic) Fonts at the time of the test.
- Viva-voce Test will be of 40 marks. THe candidate will be selected on the basis of General Knowledge, Mental Alertness, Current affairs, Clear and logical exposition, Skills, Knowledge of Gujarati, Hindi & English Language etc.
Selection Process
Selection of the candidate will based on the performance in both the Tests. Candidates who will obtained 50% marks in the Stenography Test will be called for the Viva- Voce (Oral Interview). For being eligible for the post candidate must secure minimum 25% marks in the Oral Interview test. After that final selection or the final list will be prepared on the basis of 50% marks obtained by the candidate in Stenography/Skill Test and the Viva-voce Test.
How to Apply for Gujarat High Court Stenographer Recruitment 2017
To apply for the English Steno. Grade-II (Class-II) and Gujarati Steno. Grade-II (Class-II) candidates need to visit the official website of the Gujarat High Court at hcojas.guj.nic.in Before applying, candidates must read the eligibility criteria carefully mentioned above in this article. Candidates have to pay separate fee for the each post that is given below:
Examination Fee
Examination Fee for the General category candidates is Rs. 500/- Whereas candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Socially & Educationally Backward Classes, Differently Abled Persons and Ex-Servicemen have to pay ₨.250/- as examination fee.
The Examination fee can be paid through any of the Core Banking Service Branches of the State Bank of India, using the Special Format of “Cash Voucher” as prescribed on the official website of the Gujarat High Court. No other mode of fee payment will be expected.
The following steps should be followed to apply for the Gujarat High Court Stenographer Recruitment 2017:
Step 1- Candidates must pay the examination fee and then Apply online from the official website of Gujarat High Court at hcojas.guj.nic.in
Step 2- Fill in the details with the required information and must mention the registered Mobile number that will be required during the entire recruitment process.
Step 3– After filling the appropriate details save the application form by clicking on the save button.
Step 4- Candidates will be directed to the window where Application number will be displayed which indicates that your application has been saved.
Step 5- Candidate need to enter the application number in the displayed window and then upload the photograph and signature that must be uploaded in JPG format with 15kb size and photograph having 5cm X 3.6cm (height X width) and signature having 2.5cm X 7.5cm (height X width)
Step 6- Candidate can also edit the form by clicking on ‘Edit Application Button’ or they can just confirm the application form by clicking on ‘Confirm Application’
Step 7- After the successful submission of the application form, candidate will receive a confirmation message on his or her registered mobile number.
Step 8- Candidates must take a printout of confirmed application and must retain it till the selection.
Call Letter Cum Admission Slip
A call letter or Admission step shall be generated for the candidate who shall, successfully submit the application form along with examination fee. The candidate will be able to download the call letter from the official website of HC Gujarat at hcojas.guj.nic.in It will be available One Week before the Stenography / Viva-voce Test. Candidate must produce the original and copy of Identity proof (Voter ID card / PAN Card / valid Driving License / valid Passport / Aadhar Card) and along with them the ‘Call Letter-cum-Admission Slip’ and original Cash Vouchers at every stage of examination. No candidate shall be allowed to appear in the test without the valid documents that are mentioned above.
Result/ Merit list for the Gujarat High Court Stenographer Recruitment 2017
High Court of Gujarat shall prepare the merit list after the Stenographer Test and Oral Interview Test. The merit list will be based on the minimum qualifying marks as decided by the authority. It will be published on the official website of HC Gujarat in the pdf format. The names of the qualified candidates will be mentioned in the merit list. A district wise merit list shall be prepared on the basis of the preference of the district given by the candidate at the time of filing the application form. The wait list shall consist of not more than 10% of the number of vacancies notified.
Documents to be produced when called for, by the High Court of Gujarat
The list of the documents has been notified by the HC of Gujarat which has to be submitted by the candidate when the candidate will be called by the High Court. The documents are as mentioned below:
- Printout of Confirmed Application Form
- School Leaving Certificate or Birth Certificate
- Certificate showing the respective requisite Speed in English / Gujarati Stenography.
- Certificate indicating the Basic Knowledge of Computer
- Caste Certificate, in case candidate belongs to the reserved category.
- Differently Abled Certificate
- Certificate of Discharge from Service in case of Ex-Servicemen
- No Objection Certificate (NOC) in case if candidate is employed in Central/ State Government
- Character Certificate from Respectable Persons being Professionals/ Dignitaries like Doctor, Engineer, M.L.A., M.Ps
- Government Gazette, showing change in name/surname, if any
- Original Identity Proof
