Notification for OTET 2017 has been released by Board of Secondary Education, Odisha. The Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test (OTET) 2017 (1st) was held on 25 September 2017. Candidate could appear in either paper I which was from 10 am to 12.30 pm, or paper II from 2 pm to 4.30 pm. Check eligibility criteria before applying.

Latest – OTET Answer keys for Paper 1, Paper 2 (Social Science) and Paper 2 (Maths and Science) has been released. Candidates can check the same from the “Answer key” page. Result is expected in October 2017.

OTET 2017

Application form for OTET 2017 had been released on 23 August 2017. Eligible teaching aspirants could apply online at www.bseodisha.ac.in and pay application fee through SBI Collect. OTET 2017 Notification

OTET 2017 Application Form

  • Applications shall be received through ONLINE mode only on visiting the website
    www. bseodisha.ac.in.
  • Online link is available 24×7 from 23 August 2017 to 06 September 2017, 11:45 pm.
  • The payment of fee shall be done through SBI Collect either in online or offline mode
    latest by 11.45 pm of 06 September 2017. However filling up of forms through online can be carried out till 07 September 2017 midnight.
  • The step by step instructions for online registration, applicability and eligibility of candidates, qualifying criteria, syllabus and its structure, instructions for physical handicapped candidates and format for continuing certificate are available in the website
    www.bseodisha.ac.in.
  • A candidate can apply for only one paper. The candidate eligible to apply under
    B (Paper-ll), shall not be eligible to apply under Category-A (Paper-l). In case the candidate
    register under both the papers, his/ her candidature in both the papers shall be rejected.
  • Under no circumstances, the last date for submission of application forms shall extended.

OTET 2017 Admit Card

The candidates can download their Admit Cards from the website www.bseodisha.ac.in by entering their registration number and email ID from 12 September 2017. The change of examination centre is not permissible. The hard copy of the admit cards shall not be issued by the B.S.E., Odisha.

The examination shall be conducted on 25 September 2017 (MONDAY) as per the programme that is given below.

  • Paper 1 – Seating 1, 10 AM to 12:30 PM.
  • Paper 2 – Seating 2, 2 PM to 4:30 PM.

All the questions were Multiple Choice Questions, each carrying one mark, with four alternatives out of which one answer was correct. Questions were set to assess candidate’s ability to analyze, interpret and apply the subject matter. There was no negative marking.

OTET Eligibility Criteria

OTET is applicable to all candidates who possess requisite academic and training qualifications with requisite percentage of marks and to all candidates pursuing the final year of the teacher training courses before the date of publication of advertisement for conducting OTET who aspire to become teachers for Classes I to VIII in the schools of the State Govt., private aided schools and private unaided schools in the State of Odisha.

However, the candidates intending to seek employment as teachers in private unaided schools shall also have the option of appearing at Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) conducted by Central Govt. through CBSE, if they so desire. The candidates after being qualified in OTET can also apply for further improvement.

Persons having the following minimum qualifications shall be eligible for appearing in OTET.

Category-A ( Paper- I )

  • Higher Secondary (+2 or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education(CT). OR
  • Higher Secondary (+2 or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education). OR
  • Graduation and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education/ 2-year Diploma in Special Education.

Category-B ( Paper- II )

  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed.). OR
  • Graduation with 50% marks and 1-year B.Ed.(Special Education). OR
  • Higher Secondary (+2 or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4-year B.A.Ed./ B.Sc.Ed.

Provided that relaxation of 5% minimum qualifying marks in +2 or graduation level, as the case may be, shall be allowed to the candidates belonging to SC, ST,OBC/ SEBC category.

Provided further that candidates having minimum marks in +2 or graduation level, as the case may be, prescribed at the time of admission in teacher education courses shall also eligible to appear in OTET.

Persons who are pursuing (final year) any of the teacher education courses (recognized by the NCTE or by the RCI, as the case may be) specified above in both the categories.

Persons declared eligible by the State Govt./ NCTE/ Govt. of India from time to time.

UNTRAINED CANDIDATES

As per Government of Odisha, School and Mass Education Department Letter No.23860/SME dated 21/10/2013, the untrained candidates, belonging to SC, ST & PH Category having required percentage of marks ( 5% relaxation in minimum qualifying marks in +2 or Graduation Level as the case may be, for the candidates belonging to SC & ST categories ) shall be eligible.

Passing OTET would not confer a right of any person for recruitment / employment as it is only one of eligibility criteria for appointment.

OTET 2017 Result

Qualifying Marks

  • A candidate who scores 60% or more in the TET Examination will be considered as TET pass.
  • Candidates belonging to SC, ST, SEBC/ OBC, Physically Handicapped securing scores 50% may be considered as TET Pass.
  • The TET score will be given weightage in the recruitment process.
