Board of Secondary Education, Odisha, Cuttack has released notification for eligible candidates for appearing at the Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test 2016 (2nd). OTET 2016 is applicable to all candidates who possess requisite academic and training qualifications with requisite percentage of marks and to all candidates pursuing the final year of the teacher training courses.

OTET (2nd) 2016

A candidate can apply for only one paper. The candidate eligible to apply under Category B (Paper II), shall not be eligible to apply under Category-A (Paper-I). In case the candidates register under both the papers, his/her candidate in both the paper shall be rejected.

Candidate applying for OTET 2016 ensures that she / he fulfills eligibility conditions for admission to the same. Her / his admission to the OTET 2016 will be provisional subject to satisfying the prescribed eligibility conditions.

Educational Qualification

  • Paper I – Higher Secondary (+2 or its equivalent)
  • Paper II – Graduation Degree

Selection Process – Candidates will be selected on the basis of marks obtained in Paper I and Paper II.

Eligibility Criteria

The following conditions of eligibility have been laid down by the Government of Odisha, Department of School and Mass Education vide the Resolution No.14302/SME, Bhubaneswar, dated the 04/06/2012.

Persons having the following minimum qualifications shall be eligible for appearing in OTET.

Category-A (Paper- I)

  • Higher Secondary (+2 or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education(CT). or
  • Higher Secondary (+2 or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 2-year Diploma in Education(Special Education). or
  • Graduation and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education/ 2-year Diploma in Special Education.

Category-B (Paper- II)

  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed.). or
  • Graduation with 50% marks and 1-year B.Ed.(Special Education) or
  • Higher Secondary (+2 or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4-year B.A.Ed./ B.Sc.Ed.

Provided that relaxation of 5% minimum qualifying marks in +2 or graduation level, as the case may be, shall be allowed to the candidates belonging to SC, ST,OBC/ SEBC category.

Provided further that candidates having minimum marks in +2 or graduation level, as the case may be, prescribed at the time of admission in teacher education courses shall also eligible to appear in OTET.

  • Persons who are pursuing (final year) any of the teacher education courses (recognized by the NCTE or by the RCI, as the case may be) specified above in both the categories.
  • Persons declared eligible by the State Govt./ NCTE/ Govt. of India from time to time.
