West Bengal Police Sub Inspector (WBP SI) 2020 Result
The result for the preliminary examination is released first and the qualified candidates are called for the PMT and PET. To download the result candidates need to visit the official website (wbpolice.gov.in) as per the schedule. The qualifying candidates are called for the Final Combined Competitive Examination which is a descriptive type examination. The candidates qualifying this also is called for the personality test. The final result is formulated by taking into consideration the total marks obtained in the three papers of Final Combined Competitive Examination and the marks obtained in the Personality Test.
The candidates who have failed to secure minimum pass mark in the personality test will not be considered for selection. The preliminary exam, PMT and PET all are only qualifying in nature and plays no role in the final result formulation.

West Bengal Police Recruitment Board 2020 has released the exam date of Combined Competitive Written Examination for recruitment to the post of Sub-Inspector of Police in West Bengal Police – 2019. The admit card for the candidates who fill the form through online mode is available on the official website (wbpolice.gov.in). Candidates must note that in case of on-line applicants no Admit Card will be issued through the Postal Department for Preliminary, PMT & PET, Final Combined Competitive Examination and Personality Test, if shortlisted. Candidates have to download the e-Admit Cards from the website and be on the lookout for notices through newspapers and intimation via text message on their registered mobile numbers and email.
Exam Pattern
The candidates will have to clear each of the exams in order to be considered for the recruitment. The preliminary examination acts a s a screening test and after that Physical Measurement Test (PMT), Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Final Combined Competitive Examination and Personality Test to be conducted by the West Bengal Police Recruitment Board. Preliminary Examination

Syllabus

Preliminary examination and Paper I of the Final Combined Competitive Examination
General Studies and Arithmetic
- General Studies – Questions will be sent to test the General Knowledge of candidates in different spheres.
- Logical & Analytical Reasoning – Questions will be set to test the logical and analytical ability of the candidate.
- Arithmetic – Questions will be set on the basis of the syllabus of Madhyamik Examination of the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education.
Paper II and Paper III of the Final Combined Competitive Examination
Paper II – English – Questions may be asked on all or any of the following items.
- Drafting of a report from the points or material supplied.
- Translation from Bengali/Hindi/Urdu/Nepali, as the case may be to English.
- Condensing of a prose passage (summary/precis).
- Correct use of words, correction of sentences, use of common phrases, synonyms and antonyms etc.
Paper III – Bengali/Hindi/Urdu/Nepali – Questions may be asked on all or any of the following items.
- Drafting of a report from the points or material supplied.
- Translation from English to Bengali and English to Nepali for the candidates who have opted for ‘Bengali’ or ‘Nepali’ respectively and translation from Hindi/Urdu to Bengali for the candidates who have opted for Hindi or Urdu. The translation is of 20(twenty) marks.
Eligibility Criteria
The candidates must possess the minimum eligibility criteria in order to apply for post. The candidates must note that only the citizen of India are applicable for this post. Also candidate must possess the minimum physical standard to further proceed with the recruitment process. The complete eligibility criteria is given below.
Educational Qualification: The candidate must be a bachelor’s degree holder in any of the discipline. Also he must be from a recognized university or its equivalent.
Language: The candidate must be able to speak, read and write Bengali Language. However, this provision will not be applicable to the persons who are permanent residents of hill sub-divisions of Darjeeling and Kalimpong Districts. For the applicant of hill sub-divisions of Darjeeling and Kalimpong District, the provisions laid down in the West Bengal Official language Act, 1961 will be applicable.
Age: The candidate age must be less than 20 years and should not be greater than 27 years as on January 01, 2019.
Age Relaxation: Upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years for SC and ST and by 3 years for OBC candidates of West Bengal only. Upper age limit is also relaxable upto 35 years for departmental candidates of West Bengal Police only having requisite qualification. The upper age limit shall further be relaxed for the departmental candidates by 5 (five) years in case of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes candidates and by 3 (Three) years in case of Other Backward Classes candidates.
Departmental candidates who have already appeared at the competitive examination for recruitment of SIs/LSIs conducted by PSC and/ or WBPRB on three (3) earlier occasions are not be eligible to apply.
Certificates to be produced to prove Eligiblity
- A candidate belonging to OBC-A or OBC-B category, if shortlisted for Personality Test, has to produce revalidated/renewed or fresh OBC-A/ OBC-B certificate issued by the competent authority on or after 01.01.2018, during verification of testimonials at the time of Personality Test. Certificate of OBC without mentioning the specific category (OBC-A/ OBC-B) will be treated as ‘Invalid certificate’.
- Applicants who are employed in any Government organisaton as well as the Departmental applicants in WBP will submit ‘No Objection Certificate’ from the head of the office/ disciplinary authority if shortlisted for Personality Test.

Selection Procedure
The candidates will have to clear the following tests in the respective manner only to clear the exam and be considered for selection.
- Preliminary Examination.
- Physical Measurement test (PMT).
- Physical Efficiency Test (PET).
- Final Combined Competitive Examination.
- Personality Test .
From among the received applications the eligible candidates are called for the preliminary examination. The preliminary examination is a objective type questions based examination. The qualified candidates now have to appear for the Physical Measurement Test (PMT). Only those candidates who passes the required minimum criteria are eligible to appear for the next round which is Physical Efficiency Test (PET). Only qualified candidates of both PMT & PET are eligible to appear in the Final Combined Competitive Examination.
The Final Combined Competitive Examination consists of three papers. The written examination for all the above three papers of the Final Combined Competitive Examination are held on the same day at selected centres to be decided by the West Bengal Police Recruitment Board. A limited number of the candidates selected merit-wise on the results of Final Combined Competitive Examination will be called on to appear at the Personality Test. The minimum pass mark for the personality test will be 08 (eight). The candidates who fail to secure minimum pass mark in the personality test will be disqualified irrespective of the marks obtained by them in the Final Combined Competitive Examination.
The final merit list of provisionally selected candidates is prepared on the basis of the total marks obtained in the three papers of Final Combined Competitive Examination and the marks obtained in the Personality Test. The candidates who have failed to secure minimum pass mark in the personality test will not be considered for selection.
All provisionally selected candidates are required to appear for Medical Examination at the State Government designated hospitals. He should qualify the prescribed medical test. The candidates must not have any of the following.
- Knock Knee
- Flat Foot
- Varicose Vein
- Squint Eyes.
With respect to vision the minimum vision should be 6/6 with or without glasses. They should possess high colour vision and should not be colour blind. The medical test also includes the chest x-ray and other tests as prescribed by the department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of West Bengal from time to time.
