The application process has been started from December 13, 2017,In order to apply candidates have to first go for “One Time Registration” and then s/he can apply for the recruitment. The Public Service Commission, West Bengal will hold a Combined Competitive Examination for recruitment to the posts of Junior Engineers’ (Civil/Mechanical/Electrical) in West Bengal Sub-ordinate Service of Engineers (Civil/Mechanical/Electrical) under the various Departments, Directorates, other offices and establishments of Government of West Bengal. The Public Service Commission, West Bengal will hold a Combined Competitive Examination for WBPSC JE Recruitment 2017. The no. of vacancies in different services and posts to be filled on the results of the examination will be announced later. All appointments will initially be made on a temporary basis.

WBPSC JE Vacancy Details
Name of the post: Junior Engineers’ (Civil/Mechanical/Electrical)
Vacancy: The no. of vacancies in different services and posts to be filled on the results of the examination will be announced later.
Minimum Qualification: Candidate must have done Diploma in the relevant field.
Age limit: Candidate should not more than 36 years on the 01 Jan 2017.
Pay Scale: (PB-4) Rs.9,000-40,500/- + Grade Pay of Rs.4,400/- besides D.A., M.A. & H.R.A. etc. admissible as per rules.
Application fee: Candidate have to pay an application fee of Rs 160/- along with extra charges as applicable.
Selection Procedure: Selection of candidates will be done on the basis of written examination followed by Personality Test.
WBPSC JE Application Form
The interested candidates shall apply online for WBPSC JE Recruitment 2017 through the official website of WBPSC. Applications in any other form will not be accepted. For the convenience of the candidates, the direct link to apply online for the WBPSC JE Recruitment 2017 is provided below. However, those candidates who have earlier registered themselves with PSC, West Bengal need not register once again. They can use their previous User Id and Password for login into their respective Dashboards. The link to login is also provided here.
Application Fee is Rs. 160/- (Rupees one hundred sixty) only + Other Charge as applicable. SC / ST candidates of West Bengal and Persons with disabilities (PWD) having physical disability of 40% and above are not required to pay any fee. No exemption of fee is available to category candidates of other states.
The candidates are advised to read the eligibility criteria carefully before applying for WBPSC JE Recruitment 2017. Those candidates who fail to satisfy the prescribed eligibility criteria shall NOT be considered for the recruitment. The aspiring candidates can check the eligibility criteria as given below.
- Diploma in Civil / Mechanical / Electrical Engineering from State Council for Engineering and Technical Education, West Bengal or its equivalent.
- Departmental candidates will also be eligible to apply provided they possess the requisite educational qualifications.
- Ability to read, write and speak in Bengali (not required for those candidates whose mother tongue is Nepali)
- The candidate must be a citizen of India.
- Good health and character suitability in all respects for appointment to Government Service.
Not more than 36 years on the 1st January, 2017 (i.e. born not earlier than the 2nd January, 1981). The upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years for SC and ST candidates of West Bengal and by 3 years for BC candidates of West Bengal and upto 45 years for persons with disabilities having physical disability of 40%
Relaxation in Age:
The upper age limit is also relaxable in case of a candidate who has been in the employment of the Central Government or the State Government or Government Undertaking or Statutory Body, recognized for the purpose by the State Government and is not out of such employment for more than a year on the date of advertisement, to the extent of actual period spent continuously in such employment subject to a maximum of 5 (five) years.
WBPSC JE Exam Pattern
The candidates applying for WBPSC JE Recruitment 2017 shall have to appear in a written examination which will be held in the following branches of Engineering
- Civil Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
The Examination will be held in two successive parts, viz.,
- Written Examination (Multiple choice objective type questions)
- Personality Test
The Written Examination will be held in Kolkata North & Kolkata South centres tentatively on the 18th of February, 2018 or thereabout followed by the Personality Test. The Personality Test of the candidates selected on the basis of the results of the written examination will be held at the Commission’s office in Kolkata

WBPSC JE Result
WBPSC JE Result will be published in two stages. The names of the candidates called to Personality Test and those recommended for appointment will be published provisionally subject to determination of eligibility of the candidates in all respects and verification of original certificates etc. If at any stage of such verification any candidate is found ineligible, his / her candidature / allotment will be cancelled.
Candidates who will be selected for appointment will be required to appear before a Medical Board for certificates of their fitness for Government service in the form prescribed for the purpose.
Original Certificates and photocopies of certificates duly self-attested relating to citizenship (by registration), age, qualifications, caste (SC/ST/BC), Physical disability (40% and above) and previous employment will have to be submitted when the Commission asks for them. If any candidate fails to furnish any certificate or any other relevant document or information relating to his / her candidature within the time specified by the Commission, his / her claim for allotment may be passed over without further reference to him / her.
A candidate claiming to be S.C., S.T., B.C. or Persons with Disabilities (40% and above) must have a certificate in support of his / her claim from a competent authority of West Bengal issued on or before the closing date of submission of application as specified below :
For S.C., S.T. & B.C. Candidates
- In the district, the Sub-Divisional Officer of the Sub-Division concerned, and
- In Kolkata, the District Magistrate, South 24-Parganas or such Additional District Magistrate, South 24-Parganas, as may be authorized by the District Magistrate, South 24-Parganas, in this behalf and the District Welfare Officer, Kolkata and Ex-officio Joint Director, Backward Classes Welfare.
For PwD Candidates
- A Medical Board constituted at Government Medical College Hospitals in Kolkata, District Hospitals and Subdivisional Hospitals.
