The Govt. of Karnataka has entrusted the responsibility of conducting the Karnataka Teacher Eligibility Test (KARTET) to the Centralised Admission Cell (CAC), Office of the Commissioner of public instruction, Bangalore. It had been inter alia provided that one of the essential qualifications for a person to be eligible for appointment as a teacher in any of the schools is that he/she should pass the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) which will be conducted by the appropriate Government in accordance with the Guidelines framed by the NCTE. Karnataka TET 2019

Candidates can apply online for Karnataka TET through department website www.schooleducation.kar.nic.in. Karnataka TET is an eligibility test only and has no claim for recruitment. There is no restriction on the number of attempts a person can take for acquiring a KARTET Certificate. A person who has qualified KARTET may also appear again for improving his/her score.

Minimum Qualifications for becoming Teacher for Classes I to V: Primary Stage – Paper I

  • PUC / Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known)

OR

  • PUC / Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4- year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).

OR

  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2- year Diploma in Education (Special Education)*.

OR

  • B.A / B.Sc Graduation and passed or appearing in the final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known)

Minimum Qualifications for becoming Teacher for Classes VI-VIII: Elementary Stage – Paper II

  • B.A / B.Sc Graduation and passed or appearing in the final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).

OR

  • B.A / B.Sc Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1- year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed).

OR

  • PUC / Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4- year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).

OR

  • PUC / Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4- year B.A /B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed /B.Sc.Ed.

OR

  • B.A / B.Sc Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1- year B.Ed. (Special Education)*.

Minimum Qualifications for becoming Teacher for Classes I – VIII: Elementary Stage – Paper – I and II

  • PUC / Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4- year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed). OR
  • B.A / B.Sc Graduation and passed or appearing in the final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).

Application Form

Candidates are advised to go through the instructions carefully before applying Online application through department website www.schooleducation.kar.in. Candidate particulars should be filled in online and the scanned JPEG images of photograph and signature should be uploaded at the time of filling the online application form.

On completing the process of uploading all the relevant documents, the candidate should take a print of the computer generated application containing the register no, candidate particulars, applied papers and complete address of the candidate. Fee once remitted shall not be refunded or adjusted in future tests under any circumstances.

Admit card

Candidates can download their admit card for Karnataka TET from the department website www.schooleducation.kar.nic.in and appear for the examination at the given Centre. In case of any discrepancy in the particulars of the candidate or his/her photograph and
signatures shown in the admit card/admission card and downloaded Final online application, the candidate may immediately contact CAC for necessary correction.

Exam Pattern

All questions in KARTET test will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), each carrying one mark, with four alternatives out of which one answer will be correct. There will be no negative marking.

There will be two papers of KARTET

  • Paper I will be for a person who intends to be a teacher for classes I to V.
  • Paper II will be for a person who intends to be a teacher for classes VI to VIII.

A person who intends to be a teacher for both levels (classes I to V and classes VI to VIII) will have to appear in both the papers (Paper I and Paper II).

Karnataka TET Answer Key

Right after the termination of the KARTET, the department releases the answer keys of the eligibility test. The department releases Preliminary/Initial answer keys and then final Answer keys. Candidate can challenge the initial answer keys in case of any doubt within a given time frame. After the time frame, no challenge would be accepted by the department. In order to challenge the answer key, a candidate is required to follow the procedure prescribed by the Department. You also required to pay a requisite amount of fee per question. The Department will check for the objection and thereafter releases the final answer key.

Karnataka TET Result

The Karnataka TET Result releases by the Govt. of Karnataka at its official website in online mode. The result of the test implies that status of the test whether it is qualified or not qualified by the candidate. Qualifying the KARTET would not confer a right for recruitment/employment to any person as it is only one of the eligibility criteria for appointment.

The qualified candidates will be awarded the KARTET Qualifying Certificate. The Validity Period of KARTET qualifying certificate for appointment will be seven years from the date of declaration of its result for all categories.
