The Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission is entrusted with the authority to conduct all government recruitment in the state for different Gazetted and Non-Gazetted posts. This applies to all posts except for the specific posts covered under the provisions of the Article 320, Article 16 (Clause 4), Article 335, Article 336 of the Indian Constitution. The Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission came into being only after the reorganization of states leading to the creation of the separate state of Madhya Pradesh in 1956. Under the provisions of Section 118 (2) of the States Reorganisation Act 1956, the former PSC that undertook such responsibilities was dissolved. The new Commission known as the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission came into being under the provisions of the 118 (3) of the States reorganization Act in 1956 vide notification No. 59/6/56-SR-II of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.
