AFCAT 2024 – The AFCAT 2/2024 is notification is made available on afcat.cdac.in. IAF conducts Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) to recruit eligible candidates as Group A Gazetted Officers in Flying and Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical) branches. AFCAT exam is done through four stages – written exam, AFSB Testing, medical exam, and All India merit list. AFCAT 2024
AFCAT Test is held twice every year for the recruitment in Indian Air Force – in February and August. Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) is conducted for flying branch and ground duty (technical and non-technical). Indian Air Force invites both male and female for these branches.
AFCAT 2024 Exam Selection Process
The selection of candidates for AFCAT 2024 is done through 04 stages – written exam, psychological test, medical exam, and merit list.
#1 Written Exam (AFCAT):
- For all entries other than NDA and CDSE and for all branches, candidates have to undergo the AFCAT.
- The test is conducted twice a year in February and August.
- Advertisements inviting applications for AFCAT are out in June and December. Candidates are to apply as per the advertisement.
- The test is conducted all across India by the Indian Air Force.
#2 AFSB (Air Force Selection Board) Test:
If you have successfully cleared Step 1, you will receive a Call letter to report to any one of the Air Force Selection Boards. At AFSB, you undergo following tests in order to ascertain your suitability and gauge your potential as an Officer in the Indian Air Force.
Stage I Testing
- Officer Intelligence rating Test.
- Picture perception and Discussion Test.
Stage II Testing
All Stage I qualified candidates undergo following tests as part of Stage II testing during next four to five days. Fifth day is for CPSS testing (Flying branch).
- Psychological Tests are written tests that are conducted by a Psychologist.
- Group Tests are interactive indoor and outdoor activities which are a combination of mental and physical work.
- Interview involves a personal conversation with an Interviewing Officer.
- Candidates who have applied for flying branch and have been recommended, will also have to undergo Computerised Pilot Selection System (CPSS) test .
These tests will be explained to you in detail before they are conducted at the Selection Board.
#3 Medical Exam
- If you are recommended by the Selection Board, you will be sent for the medical examination either at Air Force Central Medical Establishment (AFCME), New Delhi or Institute of Aviation Medicine, Bengaluru.
#4 Final Merit List
- An All India Merit List is compiled on the basis of your performance in the written test and AFSB interview, subject to being medically fit. Based on the vacancies available in various branches / sub branches, joining instructions are issued to join one of the Training establishments.
AFCAT 2024 Admit Card
The admit cards for AFCAT exam releases through an online process only. Candidates can download their AFCAT 2024 admit card from afcat.cdac.in. As the call letters releases through login, keep the username, email id, and password ready. The important information for the AFCAT exam such as the exam centre and schedule for the exam is conveyed through the AFCAT call letters. So, candidates must download their respective admit cards within the stipulated time.
AFCAT 2024 Answer Key
Once the exam for AFCAT 2024 is over, what candidates await is the official AFCAT answer key. Applicants who appear in the online exam can download the official answer key from the website, afcat.cdac.in. Right after the exam, several coaching institutes also publish memory-based answers keys online. Aspirants can refer to that along with the official one. With the help of AFCAT 2024 official answer key, candidates can calculate the expected marks in the exam.
AFCAT 2024 Result
Indian Air Force declares the result for AFCAT exam online process at afcat.cdac.i,. To check AFCAT 2024 result, aspirants hav to log in using the login credentials. Candidates must keep their ‘candidate login’ details ready – email address and password. As mentioned above, the result is prepared based on the marks secured in the written and AFSB test. After the release of the final merit list, candidates have to be present for training.

AFCAT Training
Qualifying candidates are required to take part in the AFCAT training organized by Indian Air Force. The training will commence in the first week of January 2023 for all courses at Air Force Academy Dundigal ( Hyderabad). The training will be organized for a duration of 74 weeks for the Flying and Ground Duty (Technical Branches) and 52 weeks for Ground Duty (Non-Technical) Branches. Aspirants who are shortlisted for AFCAT Training have to carry PAN card and account in SBI/ Nationalised Bank at the time of joining Air Force Academy. Also, aadhar card is mandatory for registration.
AFCAT Salary
Even before you are Commissioned as an Air Force Officer you start earning a monthly stipend of Rs. 56,100/- during last one year of your training period at any of the Air Force Training Institutions.
The following Pay / Allowances would be applicable on grant of Commission to Flying Officers:-
- Pay in Pay Band (Common to all Branches) – Rs 56,100 Per Month
- The officer will be placed in Level 10 in the Pay Matrix of VIIth CPC – 56,100-1,77,500
- Military Service Pay :- Rs 15,500 Per Month
- Other allowances such as Transport allowance, Children Education Allowance, HRA etc. are also admissible to Officers.
- In addition to pay, allowances are applicable based on the nature of duty/ place of posting and it includes Flying, Transport, Technical, Field Area, Special Compensatory (Hill area), Special Force, Siachen, Island Special Duty, Test Pilot & Flight Test Engineer, Area and Remote Locality Allowance, etc.
In addition the following allowances are admissible to the newly Commissioned Officers in Flying and Technical Branches
- Flying Allowance to Flying Branch Officers.
- Technical Allowance to Technical Branch Officers.

AFCAT Syllabus 2024

- English: Comprehension, antonyms, synonyms, filling in of correct word/sentence completion, vocabulary, error detection, idioms and phrases.
- General awareness: Geography, polity, history, current affairs, basic science, environment, culture, defence, art, sports, etc.
- Numerical ability: Time and work, average, ratio and proportion, profit and loss, percentage, time and distance (train, boat and stream), decimal fraction, simple interest.
- Reasoning and military aptitude test: AFCAT reasoning syllabus comprises Spatial ability, verbal skills.
AFCAT Eligibility Criteria 2024

Educational Qualification
- Flying Branch – Candidates must have passed 10+2 with Maths and Physics securing minimum 50% marks, and
- Graduation with minimum of 03 years course with a minimum of 60% marks OR
- BE/B.Tech for 04 years with minimum 60% marks OR
- Those who have cleared section A and B exam of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers or Aeronautical Society of India with minimum 60% marks.
- Ground Duty (Technical Branch) –
- Candidates must have minimum 50% marks in 10+2 exam passed with Maths and Physics and 04 years graduation/integrated postgraduation qualification in Engineering/Technology
- OR Those who have cleared section A and B exam of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers or Aeronautical Society of India with minimum 60% marks
- Ground Duty (Non-Technical Branch) –
- Administration
- Candidates must have minimum 50% marks in 10+2 exam passed with Maths and Physics and 03 years graduation, OR
- Cleared section A and B exam of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers or Aeronautical Society of India with minimum 60% marks
- Education
- Candidates must have passed 10+2 and post-graduation with 50% marks

AFCAT 2024 Application Form
Candidates have to submit their applications through online mode by visiting afcat.cdac.in. IAF allows candidates to register first and then proceed with the submission of AFCAT application form 2024. Keep the Aadhar number ready as it is mandatory for the IAF AFCAT registration. Application fee
- Candidates have to pay Rs. 550/- (non-refundable) as the AFCAT application fee.
- Aspirants appearing for NCC Special Entry are not required to pay the application fee.
