The candidate recruited under these 3 posts have a pay scale of Rs. 9300-34800 + Grade Pay 4200 Group: ‘B’. There is a total of 637 vacancies for Primary Teacher, 141 for Nursery Teacher and 204 for Junior Engineer (Civil) post. Application Form
The application form can be filled online only. No hand-written or self typed application form will be accepted by the board. The candidates must fill the application form before the last date to avoid any problem. You must read the instructions for filling the application form. The application fee for all the candidates is Rs. 100. Following candidates are exempt from paying the application fee:
- Women candidates
- Schedule Caste
- Schedule Tribe
- Physically Handicapped &
- Ex-serviceman category
Mode of Payment: The candidates will need to pay the application fee in online mode only. The application fee can be paid through SBI e-pay only. Other modes of payment of application will not be accepted. The application fee is not refundable in any case.
Eligibility Criteria
Below is the eligibility criteria that the candidate must clear before filling the application form.
Nationality: The candidate must be a citizen of India only.
Age Limit: The candidate must not be more than 30 years.
Age relaxation: Below is the age relaxation on the age limit for some categories of candidates:

Education Qualification: The candidate must have education qualificaion from a recognised institute. Below is the post wise education qualification applicable to all the applicants:
(i) Primary Teacher: Candidate must fulfil all the 3 conditions as given below
Condition 1:
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 2-years Diploma in elementary education
OR
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and 2-years Diploma in elementary education as per the NCTE.
OR
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4-years Bachelor of elementary education (B.El.Ed).
OR
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 2-years Diploma in Education (special education)
OR
Graduation and 2-years Diploma in elementary education
Note: Candidates of SC/ST/OBC/PH category may have 5% concession in qualifying marks
Condition-2: Pass in the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) conducted by CBSE.
Condition-3: Must have passed Hindi or Urdu or Punjabi or English as a subject at Secondary Level.
(ii) Nursery Teacher: Candidate must fulfil all the 3 conditions for applying for this post:
- Cleared 12th class exam with 45% marks
- Diploma/Certificate in Nursery Teacher Education programme for a duration of not less than two years or B.Ed. (Nursery)
- passed Hindi at Secondary Level.
(iii) Junior Engineer (Civil):
Basic Qualification: Degree in Civil Engineering
OR
3 years Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized university/Board/Institute plus two years experience in planning, execution and maintenance of civil engineering works.
Admit Card
The admit card of Tier-1 and Tier-2 exam will be uploaded by the board separately. The candidates need to download the admit card from the official website as no admit card will be sent to the candidate individually through post or mail. The candidates must have their login details to downlaod the admiti card. The login details will be “Registration no.” and “Date of Birth”. You must also carry Aadhar card or a valid photo ID proof issued by the government along with the admit card to the exam centre. No candidate will be allowed to the exam centre without the admit card and photo ID proof. The candidate must also read the general instructions given on the admit card and abide by them in the exam centre.
The candidate who forgot their application/registration no. can retrieve it by clicking on the “Know your application no. ” button and click on the submit button. Your registration no will appear on the screen.
The exam centre will be in the Delhi or Delhi NCR regions only. The full address of the exam centre will be communicated to the candidates through admit card only.
Exam Pattern
The exam for primary teacher and for nursery teacher will be conducted in 1 tier only. The exam for Junior Engineer will be conducted in 2 tiers. The exam pattern for tier will be similar for all the posts. Below is the exam pattern for 3 of the posts:

Marking scheme: there is 1 marks for every question. There is also negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong question.

Exam Syllabus
Below is the exam syllabus for both the exams of Tier 1 and Tier 2:
Tier-1:
Section A:
1.General Awareness: The questions in this section will be asked to test general awareness of the candidates. The questions will be from Current Events related to History, Polity, Constitution, Sports, Art & Culture, Geography, Economics, Everyday Science, Scientific Research, National/International Organizations /Institutions etc.
2.General Intelligence & Reasoning Ability: The question paper will have 20 questions of this section which will have both verbal and non-verbal type questions. The question will consist of topics such as analogies, similarities, differences, space visualization, problem solving, analysis, judgment, decision making, visual memory, discrimination, observation, relationship, concepts, arithmetical reasoning, verbal and figure classification, arithmetical number series etc.
3. Arithmetical & Numerical Ability: This section will have questions from the topics of Simplification, Decimals, Data Interpretation, Fractions, L.C.M., H.C.F., Ratio & Proportion, Percentage, Average, Profit & Loss, Discount, Simple & Compound Interest, Mensuration, Time & Work, Time & Distance, Tables & Graphs etc.
4. Hindi Language & Comprehension and English Language & Comprehension: These sections will have 20 questions each of total 20 marks. The section will be focused on testing the candidate’s understanding of both the laguages including the grammar. The section will also cover the topics of Vocabulary, Grammar, Sentence Structure, Synonyms, Antonyms and its correct usage etc.
Section B: This section will have questions related to the post of the candidate.
Tier-2:
Section-A: There will be 150 questions of objective type. Each question will have 1 mark each. The question paper will be based on the subject concerned as per the recruitment rules of this post.
Section-B: This section will check the candidate’s understanding of English Language. The question paper will cover topics of Grammar, Vocabulary, Sentence Structure, Synonyms, Antonyms and its correct usage etc. This section will be slight of a higher level as compared to the Tier-1 exam.
Answer Key
The answer key will be available on the official website of DSSSB in the “Answer Keys” section of the main menu. The candidates do not need any login details to download the answer key. You can use the answer key to know your score for the examination. The official answer key becomes the basis for evaluating the response sheet of all the candidates who appeared in the exam. Also, you cna object the answer key by filling the objection form. The candidates will need their “Registration No.” and “Date of Birth” to object the answer key. The changes due to objection in the answer key will be aplicable to all the candidates equally. The board also has the provision to cancel the question as per requirement.
Result
The candidates must clear the sectional as well as the overall cut-off to qualify the written exam. The candidates who qualify the cut-off will be considered for the final merit list on the basis of the marks scored by the candidates. There is negative markign of 0.25 marks in the exam. The minimum qualifying marks are declared by the DSSSB only. The minimum qualifying marks vary as per the categories of the candidates. There is also tie-breaking criteria for the candidates scoring equal marks.
Tie-Breaking:
- The marks of the candidates of subject-specific section in considered first.
- If the marks of both the candidate in the “subject-specified” section is similar, the the older candidate will be given priority.
- If the candidates are equal. in age as well, then the final tie-breaking criteria is the names of candidates in alphabetical order. The candidate whose name comes first is considered preferred.

Pay-Scale
The pay scale for all the posts will be Rs. 9300-34800 + Grade Pay 4200 Group: ‘B”. Additional allowance will be provided to the candidates as per the instructions of the Governmetn of Delhi. The candidates will be selected to the post of Primary and Nursery Teacher through Tier-1 exam only. While, the candidates for Junior Engineer (Civil) will be selected through Tier-1 and Tier-2 exams.
