Pay Scale

The candidates will be paid as per government rules and regulations. The pay that has been decided is as follows:-

  • For Post 1, 2 &3: P.B.-3, Rs. 15,600- 39,100, G.P. Rs. 5,400/-
  • For Post 4: P.B.-2, Rs. 9,300- 34,800, G.P. Rs. 4,200/-

For Post 5 to 11: P.B.- 1, Rs. 5,200- 20,200, G.P. Rs. 2,800/-

Age Limit – Between 21 to 30 years

Educational Qualification – Bachelor’s Degree

Selection Process – Selection will be made on the basis of three stages 1) preliminary examination 2) main examination 3) interview.

NPSC Application Form 2017

The candidates who wish to apply can submit their applications in online mode from August 08, 2017 by visiting the official website or you are strictly advised to apply before the last date i.e. September 08, 2017. Only single application shall be submitted. All fields marked with the asterisks on the e-form are mandatory to be furnished. Also, there is need of uploading candidate’s scanned images of photograph and signature in the following manner.

  • Photograph- must be 200 pixels width x 250 pixels height.
  • Signature- must be 250 pixels width x 120 pixels height.

Examination Fee

The examination fee has been enhanced to Rs. 310/- for all the categories.  The aspirants must keep this amount ready before filling the application. The method using which the following amount can be paid is indicated next.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must carefully read the eligibility conditions we are providing here. The conditions can also be noted down from the website in printable form. Only male candidates are required to apply for this recruitment with a minimum height of 163 cm. Let us see the eligibility criteria in detail:-

(i) Academic Qualification- Bachelor’s degree in any of the discipline from a recognized Institution/ University.
(ii) Age Limit- candidate must be between 21 to 30 years as on 01 January 2017.

Upper Age Relaxation Policy:-

  • SC/ST candidates- 5 years
  • Government employees- maximum 5 years

(iii) Physical Fitness Requirement– The applicant must be mentally and physically well. Moreover, the candidate should be free of any organic defects. The defects that are not acceptable are mentioned in disqualification category.

(iv) Physical requirements for unreserved category

  • Minimum Height -5 ft. 2 inches
  • Chest measurement- 32 inches in deflated condition with expansion capacity of of 1 ½ inches.

(v) Physical requirements for SC/ST category

  • Height- 5 ft. 4 inches
  • Chest measurement- 33 inches in deflated condition with expansion capacity of 2 inches.

(vi) Final Year appearing students
Students going to appear in the final year of their under graduation are also eligible to apply. It will be mandatory to possess all the original documents.


The candidates will be subject to disqualification, if they do not follow or clear the above conditions. In addition to these, if it is found that the candidates have the physical conditions mentioned below, they will be disqualified.

NPSC 2017 Selection Process

There will be 3 stages of examinations:-

  • Preliminary Examination
  • Main Examination
  • Interview/ Viva-Voice

Exam Pattern / Syllabus

Preliminary Syllabus/ Pattern

The Preliminary exam will be Pen and Paper based. It will have 1 question paper of multiple choice questions of 200 marks that will have to be attempted in 3 hours. The question paper will cover the following topics:-
General Science, History, About Nagaland, Geography, Indian Polity and Economy, Indian National Movement, General Mental Ability Test and current events

Main Examination syllabus/ Pattern

The Main exam will have 3 papers of total 200 marks for each section. The papers are:
(i) General Essay, Comprehension and Grammar
(ii) General Studies Paper-I (Objective type )
(iii) General Studies Paper-II (Descriptive)

(i) General Essay, Comprehension & Grammar

This section will comprise of 200 marks questions that the candidates must attempt in 3 hours. You can expect 50 questions of 2 marks on topics such as Crisis management, social problems, analysis and solutions, current events of national and international importance etc. 80 questions of 1 mark from Comprehension and 20 questions of 1 mark from Grammar.

(ii) Paper-I General Studies (MCQ)

The following paper will be of General Studies carrying 200 marks. You may get MCQs here on following topics:- Modern history of India, Indian Culture, Statistical Analysis, Nagaland in all aspects, Graphs and diagrams, Basic and everyday science. All these questions must be completed in 3 hours.

Paper-II General Studies (Descriptive)

The Paper-II will have 200 marks descriptive type questions on Indian Polity and Public Administration, Social Problems and sensitive issues including environmental problems, Indian economy and Geography, Administration in Nagaland etc.

Negative marking

There will be penalty for marking wrong answers in both- the Preliminary stage and Main stage. The negative marking decided is 0.33 marks assigned as deductible for incorrect responses.

NPSC 2017 Results

Result will be uploaded on the official website at The Roll Numbers of the candidates will be displayed in the results section on the home panel. The commission will declare the list on the basis of the performance of the candidates in Preliminary, Main and Viva Voice.
