GSET Exam Pattern 2021
Gujarat State Eligibility Test will consist of two papers and both the papers consists of only objective type questions. GSET syllabus is the same as UGC / CSIR NET. Syllabi can be downloaded from the GSET website for all Gujarat SET (GSET) subjects. The candidate can check the detailed Exam Pattern and Syllabus from below.
Test Structure
- Name of the Exam – Gujarat State Eligibility Test (GSET).
- Mode of the Exam – Pen, and Paper.
- Type of Questions – Objective Type Questions (MCQ).
- Level of Exam – State Level.
- Number of Papers – 2.
- Marks per Questions – Both papers will 2 marks per question.
- Duration of the Exam – 3 hours (180 minutes) for each paper.

GSET Paper-I shall be of a general nature, intended to assess the teaching/research aptitude of the candidate. It will be primarily intended to test the candidate’s reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking, and general awareness. 50 multiple choice questions of 2 marks each shall be awarded, all questions are mandatory.
GSET Paper-II consists of 100 compulsory questions of objective type, based on the subject chosen by the candidate. Each question shall bear 2 marks.
There is No Negative Marking.
Questions in both papers will appear in both Gujarati and English versions (with the exception of languages and science subjects). In the case of any discrepancy between the Gujarati and the English versions of the questions in Papers I, II and III, the English version should always be taken as final.
GSET 2021 Marking Scheme
The candidate should be aware of the marking scheme, as it helps the candidate in giving time to every question accordingly. Before knowing the marking scheme its is important that the candidate is aware of the exam pattern. There are going to be 2 papers, paper 1 will have 50 questions which will be of general nature, intended to assess the teaching/research aptitude of the candidate. It is designed to test the reasoning ability, divergent thinking comprehension and general awareness of the candidate. Paper 2 will have 100 questions which will be based on the subject selected by the candidate.
GSET has objective type questions and every questions carries the same mark. Each question in Paper 1 will carry 2 marks and same will be there in Paper 2, 2 marks per question. There would be no negative marking for incorrect or wrong answers.
GSET Syllabus 2021
Candidate should note that the syllabus for GSET Exam will be the same as UGC and CSIR NET. All questions in Paper I and Paper II will be compulsory, covering the entire syllabus (including all electives, without options).
