Maharashtra SET Selection Procedure
Step by step selection criteria of Maharashtra SET Exam are given below:
1st Step: Candidates should get a minimum marks in aggregate of both papers for qualifying the exam for general category and reserved categories respectively.
2nd Step: After the declaration of Maharashtra SET 2022 Result, qualified candidates are shortlisted for merit lists. SPPU prepares separate merit lists for each subject, and category. However, rank is determined on the basis of marks obtained in the exam. Moreover, the candidate’s response sheet is evaluated as per final answer key of Maharashtra SET 2022.
3rd Step: Top 6% of all candidates who appear in both papers, and qualify as per criteria mentioned above, are declared as qualified for Eligibility for Assistant Professor.
4th Step: Category and subject wise number of qualifying candidates is as per the following calculation:
No. of qualifying slots for a subject Under General Category = (No. of candidates who fulfilled minimum eligibility in that subject under General category) X ( No. of slots available under General category )/Total no. of candidates who fulfilled minimum Eligibility in all subjects Under General Category
Maharashtra SET 2022 Certificate
After the candidate has successfully qualified in Maharashtra SET 2022 examination, they will be asked to submit documents for verification purposes. During the process the validity and legitimacy of the documents uploaded by the candidate during the application process is cross checked. The originals of the certificates uploaded that proves eligibility of the candidate should be submitted before the authorities.
The following are the documents that are to be submitted
- Graduation Marksheet
- Valid caste certificate
- Valid non-creamy layer certificate (Valid in the financial year in which SET examination is conducted)
- Medical certificate with 40% or more disability (in case of PWD candidates)
- Trans-gender certificate (if applicable)
- Orphan certificate (if applicable)
- Equivalence certificate.

About Maharashtra SET
Maharashtra state eligibility test or MAHA SET or MH SET exam is an annual statewide examination. The Savitribai Phule Pune university conducts Maharashtra SET Exam every year. Maharashtra SET is conducted as an eligibility test for research fellows, assistant professors and lecturers. Certified candidates will be eligible to work in colleges and universities within the state of Maharashtra. The exam has two mandatory papers – Paper I and Paper II. The combined aggregate marks of these two papers will be taken as the Maharashtra SET score of the candidate. General category candidates need a minimum of 40% marks in aggregate and candidates belonging to reserved categories will get a 5% relaxation in the aggregate marks.
