GPSC announced earlier this year that it will conduct the preliminary exam for State Tax Inspector recruitment in 2020. The exam date was scheduled for April 26, 2020. However, as per the latest notification, the exam date has been postponed due to the ongoing lockdown situation in India.
Gujarat Public Service Commission has released the official notice of postponement at the official website i.e. gpsc.gujarat.gov.in. Citing the ongoing conditions in India due to the Covid-19 virus outbreak, the Commission has decided to defer the exam until further notice.
GPSC has announced that it will publish a further notice regarding the new dates. However, the Commission has not indicated any tentative date of the exam. Instead, the rescheduled date of the exam is to be notified as and when situations get normal.
GPSC State Tax Inspector Exam 2020
The Gujarat Public Service Commission notified about the 2020 State Tax Inspector recruitment exam earlier. The notification was published on the website through advertisement number 109/2019-2020. Accordingly, the Commission was all set the conduct the stages of the written examination as per schedule.
The preliminary exam for the recruitment was earlier announced to be held in April 2020. Eligible candidates were awaiting the issue of admit cards to appear in the preliminary exam. Qualifiers from the preliminary exam were to be selected for the final interview through a Mains exam. However, as of now, there is much speculation as to when the exam is going to be conducted the time to come.
GPSC STI 2020 Preliminary Exam Postponed Due to COVID-19
GPSC has officially declared the postponement of the 2020 State Tax Inspector recruitment exam. The Commission has officially declared the news through a notice published on the website of the Commission. We have provided a snapshot of the postponement notice here below.

The postponing notice released by GPSC has officially deferred the exam date earlier announced to be held on April 26, 2020. As of now, there is no word about any tentative new date. However, the Commission has cited the ongoing Covid-19 outbreak to drive the decision of postponement. Therefore, candidates can expect the Commission to announce rescheduled dates at the website as soon as the Covid-19 pandemic is under control.
